Have you ever changed someone's life? (A true story)? Today I just changed another person’s life lol… There is this woman at my work place. She never drinks water since she was a teenager. Everyday, she drinks 4 cups of extra large coffees and the rest are soft drinks. She doesn’t like water because water has no taste. I’m not going to talk about her personal things here. A while ago I had an approximately 20 minutes chat with her. I told her many serious problems that are related to not drinking water and I taught her a couple of ways to solve the problem and I even printed a colored Canada’s Food Guide for her as well lol… But unfortunately, a week later I went to her working area and chatted with her for a bit and I found out that she still doing what she has been doing for the last 20 or more years which is not drinking any water for the entire day lol… A month later which is today, I went to the cafeteria for lunch, and guess what? I saw a medium size water container with some ice in and it is right in font of her lol… So I asked her, is that your water? And she said: Yes, and then she said to herself in a determined tone that “I am going to be a good girl.” ^_^ I have never thought that people who don’t drink water are actually existing haha… but guess what? There are many people out there who do not drink any water at all, seriously (Poll Survey). I hope that she is going to be success and drink a lot of water everyday lol… Therefore, it proved that my specialty is true lol… “To motivate people to work for a better living.” ^_^

Is rice considered a grain product? Dumb question I know. I'm pretty sure it is. I'm talking about steamed white rice, the ones that Chinese people eat. I'm Chinese myself and I eat rice as my staple diet, and I am wondering if rice is a grain product (defined by Canada's Healthy Food Guidelines) And also what are its nutritional values? And also, if rice is a grain product, would that mean eating 5 servings of rice a day be adequate according to Canada's Healthy Food Guide?

Am I Eating Healthy? According to Canada's food guide, I'm supposed to have ... 7-8 servings of fruit and vegetables 6-7 servings of grain products 2 servings of dairy products 2 servings of meat products I'm a pretty small girl, I'm 20 years old and 5'3, and this just seems like a lot of food for me to eat in one day. On average I'll have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, a soup or sandwich for lunch, and a regular dinner (vegetables and a burger for example) with a snack or two in between. This is healthy for me, and I'm not hungry or overstuffed, but I'm not meeting the food guide standards - am I getting enough vitamins and nutrients? BTW I am NOT trying to lose weight or jump on the lame anorexic bandwagon - I'm just trying to be healthy and live right.
Why am I not lossing ANY weight? Hey, well umm I have basically started to eat healthy from the beginning of February, and well I follow the Canada's food guide, and I am sure I get the proper amount of serving I should get for eat food group, except fruits or veggies, I’m usually 3 off. However, I have been doing the healthy approach to food, and I can not say how much I love it! However, I do give my self the occasional chocolate, almost every week (1 bar), and the fried food I would day 5 times a month. I have recently started jogging in the morning for 6 mins and then I do brisk walking, I do some yoga and stretches to cool of and I have a nice light breakfast, a good lunch at 12, and a medium heavy lunch you may call it at 3, and then I may have either an apple or some yogurt with cereal at 6. I drink a lot of water; I’m just naturally very thirsty. Despite gradually changing my eating habits from before where I was not eating al regular intervals and actually gorging on food, I am actually waiting more in my opinion. I love doing exercise in the morning, but I am afraid none of this is really helping me loose a single pound. What am I doing wrong? I am 5'4 and 124 pounds. I do my interval joiggin 5 times a week 10 mins a day and i eat an approx 1310 calories a day i also walk around 20-23 mins of waliing about 2-3 mph please don't give me links to any sites, i would like to hear what you have to say.

Is 2,000 calories a day right for me? i was wondering if 2,000 calories a day was a good amount for me. i'm not trying to loose weight really, i just want to eat healthy. i achieve this much by eating the recommended amount of food from each food group as suggested by Canada's Food Guide. and of course the odd snaaackeroo. :) i exercise every day, and my usual routine is a 35 minute walk, 15 - 20 minute bike ride and muscle building exercises such as squats, weights, crunches, etc.. that target various areas of my body. every second day or so i do a cardio work out which is either running or dancing (a class that i take). is 2,000 calories the right amount for me to be HEALTHY? and i would like to build muscle, too, as part of being healthy. i am 15 and i'm a girl. i am quite.. "muscle-y" haha.

problem!!?? okay, last year i became a vegetarian and it lasted for about a week before i lost interest. A friend of mine showed me a video a couple of days ago about what they do to the animals, and told me about how it's just plain not good for you to eat meat, so I want to become vegan. The thing is, it took forever to convince my mom to let me be a vegetarian last year, how am i going to convince her to let me become VEGAN? She said no last year because of things like 'You wont get enough protein' and 'you're already a picky eater, how are you going to eat tofu?' etc, etc. So, I did my research and went onto the Canada's food guide website, I found out that I can get enough protein through nuts, peanut butter and tofu (which i can mix into other foods). Do you think shell say yes? (please note: my mother is very determined and stubborn) If no, what else can i do? thanks!

How do I burn fat on my upper abdominal area? How do I burn fat right on my lower ribs and just below my ribs? And also my arms? No matter how many sit-ups I do, it never burns the fat in that area. I exercise LOTS too. I play indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, play on two basketball teams, badminton, track-and-field, and vollyball. So it's not like I don't get any exercise. I eat healthy, too. I follow Canada's food guide, but no matter what I do I just build muscle under my fat.
I don't understand. What am I doing wrong? I'm 14 years old and concerned about my weight. I'm not skinny, but I'm not obese. I'm 130lbs and my height is 5' 5". I have muscular definition mostly in my legs. I'm quite active. Yoga, competitive figure skating, tennis, rollerblading, volleyball and I visit the gym about 3 times a week. However, I feel I'm slightly overweight. I have type 1 diabetes, so I eat properly and I follow Canada's food guide. I measure all my portions, count my carbohydrates, sugars and calories. Why do I continue to gain weight? I'm fairly wide... I don't understand. having diabetes doesn't count as a dissability for me. I can do what anyone else can do in my own way, as long as I am careful. I never let my disease hold me back. Please keep in mind that I am only 14. I am not looking to buy any products either.

I just discovered (on my vacation) how delicious peanut butter is on a bagel. Is it ok to have this daily? I follow the Canada Food Guide and according to that, it is okay. I run 1.5 miles (2.4 km) every other day and have a physical summer job. I also follow a calorie counter (The Daily Plate) and everything seems to be alright there (Carbs, Calories). The only problem is protein, with my daily protein scoring at 137% Again, would it be alright to carry this "habit" on back home? I am 16 years old and I am (apparently) getting the recommended amount of protein for my age. If two teaspoons of peanut butter daily is "unmoderated," could somebody please tell me? Thanks so much..... I am eating a balanced diet. This seemed like a "healthier" dessert that I could include towards my servings.

Unintentionally starving myself. Any possible assistance? Recently, I've been noticing a dramatic decline in the amount of food I eat in a day. I start off with a good, healthy, Canada-Food-Guide-approved breakfast, but then that often ends up being the only thing I eat for over nine hours, if not the entire day. The problem is not that I can't find time to eat, but that I don't even realise that I'm not eating. My stomach has completely stopped any and all grumbling, growling, or hunger pains, and in the sudden loss I just don't remember that I haven't eaten, or I manage to trick myself into thinking that I have because of the lack of stomach complaints. To add icing to the uneaten cake, when I DO finally manage to remember, I often can't ingest more than a few small snacks before my body decides that I've had enough and starts refusing to swallow. I'm very slowly going mad, and I know better than anyone how dreadfully unhealthy this whole thing is making me, but I can't think of how I might be able to fix the problem. Any suggestions?
What are the consequences of not meeting the daily recommended servings of grain? I'm doing a nutrition assignment, and we are analyzing our diets. I found that I'm not meeting the recommended number of grain servings, as per the Canada food guide. It recommends 7, and on one day I only had 2. I have to answer the question "Discuss the consequences of not meeting the recommended number of servings". I honestly don't know what that consequences would be! Does anyone know? Well yes, but you can get fiber from sources other than grains, such as vegetables and fruits with the skin...right? I guess you would still have a hard time getting enough fiber though... hmm, thanks, anything else? Musicmonkey, I totally agree with you that the food guide is stuck in the old age and needs to be updated. And yeah, lack of glycogen would be bad, if your body starts burning fat instead of sugar that could lead to ketosis, right? I guess that's my answers, thanks!
Why did Canada Join the Allied Forces in World War I? Is it because Great Britain owed them money/canada was part of the British commonwealth of Nations/they hated german food? this is my final study guide question
How to balance meals for healthy weight loss....? I refuse to go on another restrictive diet because I lose and then gain weight back. I've tried low carb, high carb, eliminating food groups. I've tried calorie counting, carb counting, etc and they all trigger binge eating for me. I am bound and determined to lose weight the healthy way AND KEEP IT OFF. Question is, there are SO many different opinions on how to balance meals. I'm thinking about just printing out a copy of the Canada Food Guide and basing my meals on the suggestions there, but it also says that the food guide is not intended for weight loss, so should I just cut one serving off of each food group? I admit, I know very little about nutrition....probably what got me overweight to begin with. FWIW I'm 5'8, 208 lbs.
