yahoo health? my doctor wants me to take Fosamax for treatment of osteoporosis but I am not sure this drug is safe enough..anyone have any thing to say good or bad about this drug?
Should there be a required reading page before asking questions on yahoo mental health? Seriously I understand some are not as enlightened as others, but if you are asking about side effects to meds you will have obviously only a trial on yourself would reveal the answer, These are the questions that should be limited I think, as anyones advice to the contrary is simply an opinion whether educated or not, and could potentially stray someone away from a path they should have taken.
Yahoo health says I am "high risk" due to my weight? I am 5'6 I weigh 110 and my waist is 24 inches. My BMI is 17.8. Yahoo health said I am high risk due to my weight. I think I am pretty healthy, but should I consider doing something about my weight or should I not worry about it?
Do you think the mental health section in yahoo answers should perhaps be closed? I am disgusted by the insensitive answers people give on there. I keep seeing questions about suicide and there are always the smart asses who actually give advice to perhaps mentally instable people about how to do it. It is completely immoral and wrong, even if noone is really thinking of suicide and just joking around. I dont know how any answers could ever be competent and i think that people dont realize what responsibility they assume on their shoulders when they respond in the mental health section. What do you think?
Yahoo Health groups load part way then stall? Yahoo Health Groups (only Health groups) load part way then stop. Background, Yahoo logo and banner ad download then it freezes. The msg in the lower left corner of Firefox usually says "Transmitting Data from spe.atdmt.com". Occasionally msg says doubleclick.net or other advertiser. Reloading the page sometimes helps but not always. This is a frustrating and irritating problem. Thanks for your help. PatM1_US@Yahoo.com
Need info ASAP: May have been on Yahoo Health news end of Oct.. See details.? Did anyone see on Yahoo news or in their paper or on TV about the artificial material used for heart shunts breaking off into the arteries and causing further damage? I looked at various health Web sites and couldn't find anything. Have a close friend (he's 55) who just suffered a heart attack this past weekend. His cardiologists want to perform this procedure on him. Would like reassurance it's safe and not just being tested. Thanks for all the help. Does anyone have specifics if the artificial material does break loose?

How do I contact Yahoo about giving them an idea to improve this site and revolutionize the health industry.? I would like to contact yahoo about a way we can all use this site to solve complex health answers around the world. The way I have always seen it is that the internet is a calculator of life. If we all had a way to work together to imput values of vegetables, food and the nutrients in them we could turn code into a health calculator. Eg: If someone had leukemia they could type in the disease and the database would associate a dietary list of the nutrients that could trigger a remission. The world needs to work together to create the values of each food, so the diseased person can target in on particular foods. The value is generated by an average imput. So anyone can enter the average level of each nutrient per weight of the food. User could potentaly record thier diet and blood type so it even tells to what to avoid and what you have a higher chance of contracting. By the end of the year one could see how much vitamin C they consumed. So it's like an online personal nature path. I lost my 54 year old father to leukemia in october of 2004. I will find a way to use technology and the internet to cure diseases. In everything we to computers are used to figure out answers. Why would they not be a major advance to the medical industry. There has just never been a good idea come along. Would you like to see yahoo do something like this? The largest thing we need answers to in the world today is how to cure diseases!
What is a good Online Resource for latest health news? I am looking for a website that has the latest health research news put out daily in a nice concise manner. I am going to be a resident MD soon and would like to keep updated daily on new findings without having to search through sites like (ovid, uptodate, pubmed, etc)... i guess i am looking for a quick and easy daily update to the latest news that is more in depth than yahoo health or google health but less in depth than a pub med article. Thanks!
Is Yahoo Questions and Answers an appropriate place to ask personal health questions? WHY, may I ask would you ask a group of people a question who have never seen you, know nothing about your age or habits, etc. Did seeing a doctor ever occur to you?? I asked this question because, in my not so humble opinion, I see a lot of potentionally dangerous health situations being asked in Q&A, with some pretty dittzy suggestions be offered as "cures". Michael, way too much sugar or coffee or something today for you. I'm referring ONLY to PERSONAL HEALTH issues. Not dating, food recipes, opinions about whether or not you dress in mama's undies, only personal health issues.
Does Yahoo Answer provide Health insurance for every individual in here? Yahoo could be sometimes traumatizing. LMAO TREATMENT For people with: Psyquiatric problems Psycological problems ANGER managment trauma because of account suspended or a violation notice trauma because of getting blocked plus Yahoo addiction! lol Plus:Carpal Tunnel Syndrome(from typing), Eye damage
Yahoo questions should not be used for the diagnosis of ones health issues? I would like to clarify something! Genital warts DO NOT cause cancer. I have seen people answering questions misinforming young people about their bodies. Yes genital warts is a HPV. SOME (not alot) of HPV's (of which there are hundreds) are linked to cervical cancer. Genital Warts is actually a low risk HPV and isn't related to cancer. The majority of sexually active people have strains of HPV which their body gets rid of, usually without the person even knowing they've had it. Another thing, condoms DO NOT protect you from catching a HPV. In that matter not all HPVs are sexually transmitted. So please, when someone asks a question regarding their health can we not just suggest they see a doctor?!
Should Yahoo Answers Medicine/Health answerers be given a NHS subsidy? I mean- there's so many serious health issues that people ask about without first referring to their local doctor- it's absurd. If you're sick or feel unwell or notice anything wrong/abnormal/sore/leaking/falling off- for the love of God- see a blimmin' doctor! Better safe than sorry and you'll get a bit of exercise too!
What is the purpose (especially in Religion and Spirtuality, and Mental Health) of Yahoo!Answers? The purpose Y!As serves is not as it was intended to be. Many are here to harass others (in R&S especially), many are here to have their beliefs confirmed (especially evolutionists), and many are here for fun. The real nature of this forum has been so prevalent that most now believe that it is as intended. Others may disagree, but I believe that it was intended to answer people's questions. Many need support of some kind, many need advice, many need practical solutions, but in reality those who seek such answers are the minority, though most need such answers. For me, now, it serves 2 purposes: (1) for practical issues, and (2) it is an exercise in self-discipline. For my most recent Qs I have not read the As. This is because I need to learn to care less what people think. That is my primary purpose. If I am booted off for this, that’s fine, because that means that it has very little purpose for me. I can get practical answers elsewhere. I will not likely see the answers to this Q.
Is Yahoo Q/A the proper forum for asking serious questions about health and diseases? I have been very surprised at the types of question that are asked on Y/A regarding serious health issues. As a health professional, what is more disturbing is misinformation that is given, in the way of an answer, that can be very dangerous. These questions/answers can be more dangerous then hurting someone’s feelings. What do you think, is this the right forum for these types of questions? Should these questions be allowed and/or should these types of questions or misguided answers warrant a violation.
