Are there any real dangers in drinking too much Diet Soda?

- How about death??? Some artificial sweeteners may cause cancer.
- yes. Soda is nothing but chemicals...caffeine...sugar or sugar substitutes...phosphates...carbonation. There is NOTHING healthy in soda, regardless of whether it's diet or not. It has damaging effects on the body. Causes dehydration. Depletes the body of calcium. Puts stress on the kidneys. Weakens the bones. Want me to keep going?!
- Yes, depending on the drink. 1) If it contains Aspartame, this has been shown to cause headaches and act as a depressent. Obviously, neither are good effects of a soft drink. This only realy comes into play if you have 5 or more cans of soda containing aspartame in a day. 2) If you drink to much carbonic acid (carbonated water, which is acidic), you can do damage to your esophagus and stomach lining. 3) By drinking soda instead of water, you will dehydrate. Soda does not hydrate you, as the carbonation forces you to have to urinate quicker than normally. Thus, it acts like a diuretic (sp?). Drink water. It is clean, calorie free, sugar free, sodium free, and a necessary part of every diet.
- Not at all, unless one of the following is true: (a) You are an animal smaller than a common housecat, and you drink 10 per day. (b) You are a normal-sized human, and have a high-speed intravenous drip of diet soda directly to your veins. The reports about the stuff causing cancer in lab rats is true, but extremely exaggerated. It's the saccharine that does it, and the rats are fed the equivalent of several pounds at a time with nothing else to wash it out. There are no known instances of someone getting cancer attributable solely to drinking diet soda. However, if it worries you, know that many drinks now use Splenda as the sweetener, which is sugar-based, and thus is more healthy on the whole than saccharine.
- yeah the soda contains aspertame (not sure if it is spelled right) that causes cancer
- I think this is very informative, I imagine diet is only worse because of the stuff that makes it diet. > > >WATER OR COKE? > > > > > >This is really an eye opener... Water or Coke? - not for everyone but I have an aspertane sensitivity and it feels like I have a bad hangover if I drink it the night before. no vomit just head and body aches. Drink water
- If you drink like 100 oz. a day for the rest of your life and it is filled with aspartame, yes. Because aspartame can raise the glucose levels in the brain.
- just try to cut out soda completely
- AVOID DRINKING SODA TOO OFTEN. JUST TRY TO EXPERIMENT WITH IT. TAKE AN EGG SHELF AND DIP THAT IN SODA AND LEAVE IT FOR SOME TIME(FEW DAYS AND U CAN CHANGE THE SODA FROM TIME TO TIME). SEE WHAT HAPPENS. THE SAME THINGS CAN HAPPEN TO YOUR BONES. I THINK THEY ARE GOING TO BE BRITTLE... BUT I MA NOT TOO SURE
- I know when I diet and drink alot of diet pop I get major major headaches! I dont know if its from the lack of caffeine which Im use to having or due to the sweetner in the diet pop. I just know as soon as I quit drinking it- headache goes completely away! soooooo Im gonna say its not the best thing in the world for ya! But u could have worse habits!
- I think the acid in carbonated drinks can rot your teeth and there are also links to the benzoate in soda causing cancer
- I drink diet soda every day and I am 61 years old and still kicking.
