  1. They usually don't work, that is why they are called fads. Avoid them and just eat healthy portions of healthy foods to lose weight.

But as the body is designed to work with a balance of all three you tend to end up with health complications as a result of being on them
  4. Going on some fad diets can lead to malnutrition, especially those ones where you have to cut a lot of carbs or basic food that your body is supposed to have. it's never good to cut out any food but food that is high in fat, has added sugar or food that is processed.
