Anorexia...?
I was told by my doc that I have anorexia, OCD and depression in Dec 06 and was told i would be referred to a psyciatrist. I've had anorexia for 4 yrs and didnt know as it was disguised by a 'phobia' of food. Everyday is a constant struggle. I got a letter from the psychiatrists office in Jan 07 and told i am on a 34wk waiting list. I dont want medication. I get ifections alot. Is there any way you know that I can get help now? Thanks :)

- look for a 12 step support group in your area (free) and with others who are struggling with food addictions.
- to be honest, I don't know, but I wish you well. Try this website, if they cannot help you, maybe they can refere you to another program in your area: http://www.avalonhills.org/
- A 34 week waiting list to see a psychiatrist? That seems strange. If that psychiatrist is booked, you should try contacting another office and making an appointment. I would also keep an open mind about medication, as it can help tremendously--you don't realize how much it can help until you try it. I would also consider looking for additional types of therapy.. perhaps through your school, church, etc. Best of luck
- Keep looking around for doctors, and find a good therapist/psychologist. They dont perscribe meds, they help treat you by talking.
- Hi there... First off, I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. You deserve help and support, and should not have to wait so long!! I don't know where you are located, but here are some good links to therapists and psychiatrists who specialize in treating eating disorders: http://www.something-fishy.org/treatmentfinder/ http://www.edreferral.com/easy_search.htm Good luck!
