I have a letter from my occupational health department...?
Hi I was wondering if anyone had been summoned to their occupational health department for a meeting? I have recently started a new job within my company. I have been working for them in another role for four months now. I have not been off sick in this job. I'm quite worried about it as I love the job I'm in. I was off with depression in my last job so maybe it's something to do with that, I don't know. What do you think it'll be like? Do they want to catch me out?

- <>You don't say what kind of work you do, but, if you haven't been sick or injured, it is unlikely that this is negative meeting. This may be something as simple as Right-To -Know training for your new position or a discussion about how to deal with hazards of the job.
- Probably just a check up.
- I would just go and see then. Maybe its just a welfare check to make sure you are OK ? You can always stop the meeting if you feel uncomfortable about thier questions or investigations. just say you "didn't know exactly why they wanted to see you and now you know the topic you need more time to consider your answers" Unless they specifically asked you about depression and you lied, they have nothing on you. Often its just a nurse and they have little power over you. Take care,
- Depending on what you do and where you work it could be many things. For example, they might want to do a hearing test if you work in a noisy environment. It could well be related to depression as they just want to find out what they can do for you to ensure that you don't have to go off with depression again (like how they can accomodate your needs at work to cause you less stress etc.). Don't worry, it won't be anything nasty and you are not going to lose your job.
- all they'll do is ask you why your having so much time of work, they may even give you a verbal warning,i wouldn't worry to much at the moment,my hubby had lots of time of work last year he was sent a letter by the occupational health,he got a verbal warning, they said he should only have so many times of in a year, they ashed him question to,about every date he was off work.just be honest with them
- It's quite common for Occupational Health to want to see you - they asked to see me when I switched from a temporary contract to a permanent one doing the exact same job!! They're not there to catch you out at all they just want to check that you are fit for the job, are aware of any required training (e.g. manual handling if you're going to be lifting things) and that you are aware of any support available if you do have any worries or problems in your new role. So don't worry!
- Health check nothing else. Like weight blood pressure and so on. get down and see them, worrying about nothing.
