- i am no doc but not very long i think they opp on it drain the blood and seal the puncture wound
- YOU CAN"T LIVE LONG!!! Get to a doctor immediately,if your other one colapses while your waiting...You'll die!!
- Usually a punctured lung also involves collapse of the lung. It causes a great deal of shortness of breath. The child needs to go to the hospital and have a chest tube inserted in which to re-inflate the lung and allow it to heal.
- they get a tube and they suck the air out and seal it.you have two...as long as the other works, you are OK. there must be a negative pressure to allow the oxygen to be transported into the cells and carried to the blood...
- Are you asking how long the child could live without proper medical attention? If so, that's really a tough question. It would depend on many things. What caused the puncture? How large is the wound? Is the puncture causing a problem like air getting into the chest cavity or filling the chest with blood and how rapidly? Is the object that caused the puncture still in the wound? Does the child have any aggravating condition (such as asthma or bronchitis)? How much blood is being lost? Very many questions with few answers, so here is a guess. If the puncture is just a puctured lung, with only slight bleeding, air is kept from entering the chest cavity, no other lung condition is present and shock is properly treated, a child could last quite some time with a punctured lung. However, there are usually many more problems than just a puncture so I will say from 3-15 minutes without much treatment, depending on the severity of the problem. At any rate, Hospitalization would be necessary immediately.
