I was just wondering if in the lemon detox diet where you use lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup...if it was ok to substitute honey for the maple syrup? thanks!

- I haven't heard of substituting honey before. I have done the diet twice and frequently referenced the rawfood website: http://www.therawfoodsite.com/mastercleanse.htm for testimonials. The maple syrup is where all the nutrients come from so your body is not completely depleted. I do not recommend the master cleanse as a weight loss technique. The point is to cleanse your body of toxins, the weight loss is just a perk. The weight loss is significant, but it must be noted that it is primarily from water weight. Sorry I couldn't answer about substituting honey, I'm not sure of the nutrients it contains. I do know they recommend a specific type of maple syrup (Organic Grade B) because it contains the nutrients our body needs. Also, be sure to use an herbal laxative at night (especially if you have trouble doing the salt water flush in the morning). Best of luck!
- I agree completely with "Whatchu Thinkin" on this. the purpse of the detox is NOT to lose weight and don't be convinced otherwise. I have several clients who ask me about it for losing weight. It could be used as a jump start to cleanse your body before regular dieting, but it should NOT be used just for losing weight. The purpose is to cleanse your body of toxins built up in your colon and intestines. Check out the raw food site, it has more information. Or you can buy the book
