Mend Your Diet

detox diet?

i was interested in doing some sort of detox diet. After looking at the master cleanse i just got a little intimidated and turned off. i don't think i need such an intense cleansing and don't want to starve myself for that long. I was thinking of possibly taking a few days during which i only ate fruits (mostly apples and oranges), and veggies. And drank water all day. anyone have any ideas? would that be cleasing enough? and could i add a handful of nuts here and there, i love them. thanks to all

  2. I did a detox diet for about a week & a half, and felt great. I drank a minimum of 8 cups of pure tap water a day. And I only ate whole foods. Nothing processed or artificial. I also started working out a bit, and that helped tremendously. Also eat very slow. savor each bite, and don't eat too much at one time. Having a belly that's too full wont help with the detox. Also remember when you get off the detox, do it slowly, don't jump right into regular food too fast or you'll get really sick to your stomach. Good Luck! -----------Edit: ps - nuts are great to eat on detox, just remember to not have more then 1 serving a day, because that can add a lot of calories.
  3. I done the Master Cleanse for 5 days last week. I had originally aimed to do 10 but I went a bit overboard at the gym and slowed myself down. I lost half a stone but i've put it all back on already as it was only water weight. This diet is excellent for giving your body a fresh start although I don't think I'll be doing it again in a hurry. By the 5th day I was feeling pretty faint and decided to half a muffin. the master cleanse specifically states that you should ease off the diet gradually, first drinkin only fruit juices then raw foods and finally cooked food, i was so hungry though that i ignored this and felt really ill. after eating the tiniest fraction of a muffin i feel tired and sick, this is because of the water i had lost and the toxins from the cooked, sugary food were absorbed straight into my blood stream instead of into the fat or water i had lost. I am now eating mainly fruit and veg and i feel much better. I wouldn't say it's the best detox but I'm still here so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try! :)
