What are the health benefits of eating whole wheat bread vs. white?

I am eating that kind of wheat bread, it is kind of sweet but really good. I am just wondering about the health benefits/differences between white bread and wheat bread. Looks like 100% whole wheat....We also bought other bread that has 7 whole wheats or something like that, my family has devoured that bag already :)

  1. Well, I decided to try wheat bread this week and looked at the nutrition facts. Some health benefits is that it has less calories, made from whole wheat grains and that's good, and less fat. That's all I could see in the difference.
  2. one thing most people dont realize about store bought wheat bread is that it has twice the amout of perservitives as white because it is a live bread and more is neede to give it the same amount of shelf life.
  3. You can buy Whole Wheat white bread. And there are quite a few diffrent types of Whole Wheat. Is it Dark or Light. 100% whole grain or just wheat?
  4. whole wheat bread has lots of fiber wich helps the digestion systemand can help prevent bowle cancer. White bread dosen't do much.
  5. You need to be eating wheat bread that says 100% whole wheat. The reason why wheat bread is better for you b/c of all the good stuff in it for you. white bread dint do much for you and contains alot of sugar and makes you fat.
  6. Any bread they have to treat to make it look white is really not 100% good for you ..............Whole wheat or rye..Are better if you perfer the tast.
  7. white bread is a really bad kind of fat and it sticks to your intestines or something, their not good because of how the bread is bleached and all the stuff they do to it. No, it's better to eat wheat it has good and healthy grains and is good for your heart. I suggest to keep eating wheat but also try it in different varieties, like maybe with some kinds of walnuts in it or with a slight taste of honey, mostly anything! Also stay away from potato bread, that's the worst kind of bread there is! Well I hoped this helped you in some way, bye!
  8. well, breads with whole wheat, and whole grains in it are much better for you because there is more nutrients, and more folic acid (iron). and right now i am pregnant, and i am supposed to eat whole wheat bread rather than white bread, because its healthier for the baby. white bread has bleached flour and stuff, and it has more cholesterol in it. and its not as good to be eating. I hope that answered your question
  9. get whole grain, not whole wheat. its better for you and tastes great
  10. Whole wheat bread is much better for your health than white bread. Here's why: Because white bread has been processed (to make it white, flour is not naturally white, it is light brown), it breaks down more easily in your stomach. The high content of carbohydrates, historically shown in hunter gatherer groups that have become farmers, in one's diet promotes health problems such as obesity, cavities (in the teeth) and malnutrition. White bread breaks down quickly into sugar (which then turns into fat when not used), has less fiber (to aid digestive functions and slow breaking-down process), and is less nutritious than whole wheat bread. The bleaching process of the flour takes away many vitamins and minerals usually found in darker varieties of bread. Keep eating the whole wheat bread.
  11. The wheat bread that you are eating is probably sweet because of some complex additives, one of which would invariably be sugar. Also chemicals and preservatives are part of the mix to increase its shelf life. Still, it is certainly a healthier alternative to the white bread. The flour in white bread is white through finer grinding and sifting (not through bleaching) and in the process many phytonutrients are lost. The carbohydrates in the white bread are easily digested and almost immediately converted to blood sugar. That results in weight gain or hampers weight loss. In the wholegrain bread varieties the structure of the carbohydrates is more complex as less fiber and wheat germ has been lost in the milling process. As a result, your body gets the fuel it needs for physical or mental activity at a more measured pace. The fibers preserved in the larger unmilled particles of flour will improve your intestinal activity, The vitamins and minerals give your body the necessary energy boost. Watch out for preservatives in whole wheat bread. Try an artisanal bakery or bake yourself for a change. I am sure, you and your family will taste the difference.
