Does a detox diet help to kickstart a weight loss program?
Would anyone recommend or comment on a cleansing/detox diet they've done.

- The supplements I will be mentioning here are used for both weight loss and detox!! Diet: ~~~~ Stick to your healthy eating plan like a trooper. Do NOT diet, they do not work. Do not starve yourself, it is dangerous and screws your metabolism. Natural Supplements: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You need to try supplement your diet with something that is going to clean out your system at the same time that you are doing the excercise. I reccomend two options the first is something pretty drastic and that is Wheat Grass. Taking Wheat Grass will really flush out the system, it makes me go very soon after I drink the juice. The other option, and something I have been using for 3 years now, would be something called Prosit, it is made it South Africa and is something you should take every day. It is not easy to come by, try searching for African cures and Prosit together. Prosit also makes you feel healthier and younger, and if you have High Blood Pressure, Arthritis, Cholesterol or Diabetes, Prosit will help will these too. http://www.africancures.com/ Exercise: ~~~~~~~ Aerobic and weight training will raise your metabolic rate. In result, your body will burn more calories. Here are some simple suggestions: * aerobic exercising 3 times per week, conduct an exercise that keeps your heart rate elevated for at least 30-45 minutes (ex: walking, running, cycling, swimming, aerobics, ... check out following link for more details about good exercise choices to lose weight: http://www.weight-loss-choice.com/exerci... * weight training Alternate days of aerobics with weight training. You will build muscles that will burn more calories, even when at rest!
- I think eating correctly (fruits and veggies, plenty of water) exercising and getting plenty of rest is the best detox. Do not do a detox that has you drinking some sort of concoction. They can do damage. Namely, you would deprive yourself of potassium which is important for normal heart function. Start slowly. Take out sodas and replace with water. Then add in fruits and veggies. The more the better! Then take out a certain type of food and replace with a healthier choice. i.e. red meat replaced with chicken and fish. Pretty soon you will be eating well and will not have cravings. Eating healthily is the best detox.
- I did a 3 day detox last year. It was tough but totally worth it. You may have seen it on the internet, it's called the master cleanse. First you will need a gallon of distilled water, 2 lemons, 2 table spoons of cayenne peper and 2 teaspoons of grade B pure maple syrup. Distilled water, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice are great for leaching out impurities from your system. When you detox, you also eliminate the good too, vitamins and minerals. Believe it or not, the grade B maple syrup is high in vitamins and minerals and it makes the drink a little more tolerable. The first day is by far the toughest. You'll be cranky, annoyed, irritable, lonely and tired... HANG IN THERE!!! The next day you'll start feeling the effects and you'll be happy. Sometime in the afternoon, your head will start clearing out and you'll have more energy. The third day will be even better. Every once in a while you'll go through little irritable, foggy head phase, but that will pass. When you are done you'll be a little weak but in a day or two, you'll be back and better than ever. Really just as important as doing the fast, is putting good things in your body afterwards. Good luck!!!!
