Mend Your Diet

Weight Loss?

Since Jan 1st I have been in the gym 5 days a week. I do pushups (20 at a time) throughout the day, and jog at night 30-40 minutes. I am 5'10 and 175 lbs (the exact same weight I was January 1st) and I now eat carrots and grapes with 2 meals, some meat, and eggs in the morning. I also snack on carrots throughout the day. Before I ate fast food 4-5 times a week, and now I haven't eaten any fast food this year. I would expect some more weight loss, even with muscle gain. My legs and arms are more toned, but I still have a belly I want gone. I am an endomorph body type. Does anyone have any advice or a reason why I haven't lost any weight after 5-6 weeks of diet and fitness?

  1. Try crunches I do those everyday to stay fit.
  2. You need to count your cals..often we eat more than we think Find a calorie counter and make sure... 3500 cal = 1 lb..... decrease your intake by 500 cal per day x 7 days = 1 lb per week..more if you do cardio. It really is a matter of taking in less and exercising more.. good luck!
  3. I wish I knew, kid....same thing happened to me! I do best when I track all of my food (calories) and just burn more than I consume.
  4. Try pushing yourself a little harder. Double your 20 pushups to 40. and jog for about 1 hr. Limit your caloric intake to 1000. DO NOT Surpass it. Only on days you exercise, you can allow 1100. I lost 21 lbs in 8-9 weeks. If I can do it. You can do it.
  5. Have you been consuming enough protein? I pretty sure that males should probaly consume two times their body weight of protien to see results in muscle mass(high quality protein such as eggs, fish, chicken, protein mixes).
  6. You need to exercise more. DO NOT CUT MEALS. It makes you body think it;s starving and holds on to all the fat. You should have three regular meals a day and more exercise. Anyway that is under weight for your height!
  7. chill your doing well, just do more resistance training, which is short, intense exercises. when jog for a long period of time, your body goes into "survival mode" and saves the fat. its good to do endurance training, just make sure you're also working on the resistance training good luck
  8. maybe you shouldn't diet just make healthier decisions throughout the day and excercize daily. maybe you should do some sit ups which strengthens the stomach
  9. first, the fat is probably leaving different parts of you at different times. second, your fat is gradually turning to muscle, and since muscle weighs more that fat, you may even gain weight, but you are getting more fit. just dont tell anybody how muck you weigh!
  10. you are gonna need to do a body fat % test. you may not be loseing weight because you don't have enough fat but at 5'10 175 thats a good weight even for your body type. the belly is gonna take time just stick with it by the end of march you should notice a big differance.
  11. I'm exactly the same way. But concerning the answer way above mine, you shouldn't eat below 1200 calories a day. If you don't get at least 1200, your body could go into starvation mode, so it'll retain every calorie it manages to get. I watch the Biggest Loser TV show, and some of the contestants couldn't lose weight because they were only getting 500 calories a day instead of the recommended 1500-2000. Anyways, I would just say to maybe do some ab exercises and to increase the speed of your jog. good luck :)
  12. Count your callories. I am on a weight loss program myself and that is what I am doing. I have been working out for about 4 years and I wanted to loose that belly too. I have been counting callories for about 2 weeks now I have lost about 2 or 3lbs. I still work out 5 times a week. Now find a calorie limit and don't exceed it. I don't exceed 2,000. But what ever is right for you. You can do it . I have found out that lots of it is in your head. You can do it. Keep it up!
  13. I have struggled with my weight for years . I exercised constantly ,and walked alot too . I finally broke down and went to a weight Doc. although I thought I was eating right I was all wrong . You have to eat about every 3 hrs. Protein and veggys chicken , turkey , Fish is the best and lots of water . Our bodies go into survival mode when we don't eat it thinks where starving so it actually holds on to the fat!...Don't starve yourself lift weights and eat protein lots of it ,..you'll lose if you do this really . Don't eat anything else it's boring but it'll work . Good Luck
  14. This is probably hard to belive, but when you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation mode. when it does this your body starts storing all the food you eat. I probably shouldn't be talking (I'm a vegan), but I always make sure to eat stuff like avacados, so my body doesn't flip out good luck :)
  15. Hi there, I am no expert but have had weight issues for years. You are doing a lot of exercise so a bit of muscle is being built up there. Ensure you are drinking a lot of water and that the meals you are having are healthy. No point having carrots and grapes if your meal is high in fat etc. It may also be that the carbs you are consuming have a high GI rating therefore not being of benefit to you combined with excercise. Check out http://www.alison-mckenzie-online.com which goes into detail the Glycemic Index.
  16. I would suggest a cleansing diet. I did this and lost 12 pounds and 17 inches in 9 days and then 28 pounds in about a month. I like the program since it works by giving your body nutrition through protein shakes with digestive enzymes and vitamins and then cleansing out the toxins. We get toxins in our bodies from pesticides, preservatives, water, pollution, medications, food additives etc…. These toxins enter our bodies and get coated with fat. To remove the extra fat, we need to get rid of the toxins through cleansing. The program also has a natural diet pill to help your metabolism and curb cravings. It works and it works fast. I lost 30 pounds in 5 weeks and I feel great. My skin has improved as well from the cleansing. You can get more info at this toll free number 1-877-587-4647. I think cleansing is really important to health and weight loss. Give it a try and good luck! http://thebestcleansingdiet.com
  17. When you start your weight loss program, your goal should be to lose 'fat' weight and not 'water' weight. As water help to loss weight, you should try to finish 0.5 liters of water every 4 hours regularly. You may feel little bit uneasy at beginning. But within a week you'll slowly get into the pattern. You'll start to feel the improvement in energy, and gradual weight loss.
  18. You have to be dite everyday. You don't have to eat rice or cheese because there were more protiens in it
