Mend Your Diet

Lose weight?

I want to know a simple daily routine to lose weight? I am a 15 year old Male and weight 224 lbs (17 UK Stone) and desire to lose weight to improve my health and appearance. I've read many complex diets, and regimes, but I want to know simpler routines that work for you. I enjoy walking, cycling, and swimming.

  1. keep walking, cycling and swimming!
  2. Switch all your whites to browns (bread, pasta, rice), eat 4-6 small meals throughout the day, have snacks consisting of protein/fresh fruit (such as a handfull of almonds and an apple), drink tea if you enjoy it, and drink water throughout the day (it helps to carry around a water bottle or bottled water). Please don't go on any kind of fad diet - if you are working out your body needs carbs, protein, and good fats. Trust me on this one - eat healthy, more often with smaller portion sizes. Also, you don't need to restrict anything, just stop eating when you are satisfied. If you restrict things from your diet, you will end up binging on them later. Try this, and do all the physical exercise that you mentionned you enjoy!
  3. the simplest way i found to lose weight and drop 2 dress sizes since january was to do the following..... i exercise for 1 - 2 hours a day (walking, cycling, swimming etc) (housework like mopping and vacuuming is great for aerobic excerise) eat healthy foods i.e 5 potions of fruit and veg a day, don't eat big portions all in one go, eat little and often i don't eat after 9pm at night because towards the end of the day your metabolism slows down plus i have cut down on drinking lager and beer. Good luck however your only 15 therefore i wouldn't worry too much about your weight as your still growing, when i was your age i was huge!! but by the time i was 17 i had lost alot of it. due to hormones, puberty and growing. don;t worry just do the healthy thing and you will be fine. (men grow until their 20's)
  4. Exercising is a more effective way to lose weight than cutting calories alone, according to a new study recently published in the online edition of the Journal of Applied Physiology.

  6. Theres a great book called "Burn The Fat Feed The Muscles" which is written by a body builder (but not for body builders!). \ It shows you how to create an exact plan that suits your needs for whatever your goals are. Anyone at any weight level can utilise it to reach their desired level of fitness. It also has a great section on how to get motivated and stay motivated. I can't recommend it enough - I think the the link is: www.ConditionFitness.com Hope this helps : )
