  1. It's possible, I've lost 36 pounds since January 16th. You just need to do it slowly and in a healthy way, so you don't gain it back. I could barely handle exercising when I first started, now I exercise for 60+ minutes at least 6 days a week. Start slowly and work your way up, you'll be able to do more as you start to lose the weight. One mistake people make is they think "Ok, the less I eat, the better!!" Wrong!! Your body needs a certain amount of calories every day simply to exist - energy to breathe, working your brain, etc. If you don't eat enough every day, your body will think it's starving and instead of burning fat, it will hold on to every little bit of fat it gets. Go sign up for an account at Sparkpeople and it will tell you, based on your weight, height, goals, etc., how much you should eat every day as well as how many calories you should burn a week. Between exercising and eating less calories, you need to get rid of 3500 calories a week to get rid of one pound.
  2. Here is an excellent site with some wonderful options 4 U.
  3. 1. Yes, it works. I have seen 3 people lose weight quickly with the South Beach Diet. 2. Yes, it is possible if you start now. 3. Yes, if you have no health issues, it shouldn't cause any 4. Take a vitamin every day. One a Day makes a vitamin that supports weight loss. Green Label 5. Eating healthy will make you feel better. Make sure you are eating/drinking things that are lowfat, no or low transfats. Eat 3 meals and have 3 snacks daily. Get in 3 servings of dairy; 8 oz of milk, 8 oz of yogurt, some cheese. Eat 5 fruits and/or veggies daily. Easy to do if you have a salad at lunch or dinner. Make fruit--like an apple--a snack. Drink water--at least 6 8 oz glasses of water daily. If you are hungry, drink some water, then wait 10 minutes. If still hungry, eat something. Look at the nutrition panels on food. Like to snack, and I know that 24 strawberry frosted mini wheat biscuits are one serving of cereal. I put 24 in a bowl every morning, and I eat 4-6 of them throughout the day until they are gone. And I chew gum. I have lost 12 pounds since April 2. I'm doing Weight Watchers, but they are both healthy plans, and I need the support of meetings, and having to weigh in with someone for accountability. The important thing is to eat healthy.
  4. I commend you for making the decision to choose a healthier lifestyle! Among the benefits of a regular exercise program you will definitely find an improvement in your immune system. And the South Beach Diet does work if it is followed correctly. What happens on August 23? Listen, don't get too fixated on that date. Eating right and working out is a lifestyle choice you have to make - which means that you need to be doing those things for the rest of your life in order for them to be effective. If you start now, your physique will be much improved by August 23 - you should expect to lose 2 or 3 pounds a week at the most, with the most dramatic weight loss at first and then slowing (slightly) after the first month or two. So you could lose 32 pounds in the next 16 weeks very realistically. But make sure you don't set a goal that is unrealistic for yourself. You will only get discouraged and quit. I wish you all the best and I am sure that you will be one hot mama by August! Stick with your new healthy lifestyle after that, and your quality of life will be much improved for the rest of your days. You can do it!
  5. I would suggest Nutri sysem. You can order the food and you don't have to think about it. You will feel much healthier and you will look much healthier. Good for you!! It's hard to be motivated-keep it up! If you don't reach your goal by August-be patient. I know one thing-you will look better and feel better. Your confidence will take off another 10 pounds. Good Luck-Wishing you all the best. Andee_sky
  6. the world looks at americans with disgust and amazement -what is wrong with you people, dude? You are obsesseed with food; you eat all the time; your whole culture is based on food; you have substitued food for thinking. huge fat people are the norm in your society. Stop eating so much!! Dont automatically head for food every five minutes! read a book! go for a walk! Write a letter! phone a friend! the answer is in front of you, and yet you refuse to see it. I recently stopped over in LAX airport and asked for a salad, dude, they gave me enough for four people! Insane!
  7. I do Weight Watchers and have lost 50 lbs since 12-06. A realistic goal is 1-3 pounds a week more than that is losing to much weight too fast. A goal of 10 pounds a month is realistic that is about what I lose. So by 8-23 it is a realistic goal to lose 30-35 pounds. As far as exercise - any is good - walking for 20 min a day is better than nothing at all and hopefully will help your immune system build up. Definitely refer to a doctor before starting a strenuous program. Good luck!!
